Recipe: Protein Muffins

This is one of my husbands favorite recipes and its super easy to make.  I made up this recipe with a couple of bananas that were going bad.  Each muffin contains approx 5 grams of protein depending on how much protein is in your protein powder.  There is zero sugar and they do taste great! They freeze well and I like them for when you need something quick before the gym or to take camping, hiking, etc. This recipe makes approx 24 muffins. Ingredients: 2.5 cups Oat Bran 3 whole eggs 3 egg whites Protein powder, I use 2 scoops of Vegan Vanilla Protien Powder which is 25g protein per scoop 2 bananas 2.5 tsp of Baking powder 1.5 cups water  1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (optional) 1 tsp Grated, Unsweetened Dark Chocolate (optional) Recipe: Preheat oven to 375F In a large mixing bowl mix together eggs and cut up bananas.  Mash with a fork or potato masher to make into a mush                                                3.  Add Protein powder, oat bran and baking powder

My Personal Fitness Journey Part 2

As far as Tuesdays go, this one went pretty swell.  After work I went to the gym.  I've been wanting to run and do some sprints but I've been dealing with stupid shin splints for the last week so its hurts like a sum bitch to run.  So I've been switching up my cardio and doing the elliptical, stair master, and incline walking on the treadmill.  But neither of those make me feel as bad ass and like I'm dying so much as running sprints.  Afterwards I lifted weights including deadlifts, squats, lunges, etc.  I can't do any clean and jerks because, again it makes my legs hurt like a sum bitch. So, I wanted to finish the second part of how and why I started this fitness journey.   In my last entry, I highlighted my crazy roller coaster of a year in 2014 and as I mentioned by the time the New Year rolled around I was ready for a change.  Fuck 2014 and its craziness, I was ready for a change.  I was not thinking if it as a New Years resolution, more of a life resolutio

My Personal Fitness Journey Part 1

I had a good day today, well that is for a Monday.  Work went swell and I got some very good training in today.  Right after work on Mondays I head straight to a MMA Gym where the hubs and I teach a kids Ju Jitsu class, then after we train.  I had a good half hour grappling match with a good friend of ours that I haven't rolled with in a long time.  FYI grappling or "rolling" is a term used for fighting where we use throws, hold downs, submissions, chokes, etc.  When someone refers to "rolling" they usually are going pretty easy and light, not out to kill each other. Any how so I wanted to highlight a few things that led me to my fitness journey here. Like I said before I started being serious about working out in Jan 2015.  I have always worked out but more intermittently.  I would work out consistently for a month, then stop, then start, etc! My turning point was after Christmas and New years of last year.  2014 to say the least was one hell of a year and i
