Portobello Mushroom Chicken Burger

This recipe is fantastic for the average burger lover.  The spicy and flavorful chicken patty and the Portobello mushroom "bun" make for a very satisfying and filling burger!
Per 1 Burger: Calories: 170   Fat: 4.1g    Carbs: 6g    Protein: 26g




Ingredients:
1 pkg Extra Lean Ground Chicken
1/4 Cup Oat Bran
2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
1/4 cup Red Onion, diced
1 Large Egg
1 tbsp Franks Red Hot Sauce (optional)
2 Portobello Mushrooms
Spice mixture:
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
1/2 tbsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tbsp Italian Seasoning
1/2 tsp Cumin




Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425F. In a bowl, mix together the first 5 ingredients.  Add the spices as desired.  Set aside to marinade.for 20 mins, then form into 4-5 patties.
2.  Line a baking sheet with tinfoil and spray with cooking spray.  Clean out the mushroom stems and insides and discard.  Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, turning over halfway through.
3.  While the mushrooms are cooking, heat a pan on medium and pour a tbsp of olive oil in it.  Cook each burger for approx 3-4 minutes each side.
4.  When the mushrooms are done, pat the excess moisture off with a paper towel.  Serve the burgers with low-fat cheese, tomatoes, spinach or any other of your favourite toppings!
